How long does it take to walk to the bottom of Carlsbad Caverns?

The Carlsbad Caverns are stunning in both quality of the formations, as well as the sheer size of the cavern itself. We did the 2.5 mile hike which starts from the top at the 'Natural Entrance' down 700ft to the 'Big Room'. It is a bit nippy in the caverns, so layers are recommended for guests.
